ENGLISH PUBLISHERS FOREIGN EDITIONS NORTH AMERICAN PUBLISHERS

Chatto & Windus became Collins's main publishers in England, ultimately issuing 29 titles.  Previously, most editions had been published by Bentley, Sampson Low and Smith, Elder.

The main translated editions were from Hachette and Hetzel in Paris; Janke in Berlin; Fratelli Treves in Milan; and Belinfante in the Hague.  In Leipzig, Tauchnitz issued most Collins titles in English.

The main publishers in North America were Harpers in New York and Hunter, Rose in Toronto.  There was a multitude of interconnected pirate publishers such as Peterson, Monro, Lovells, Lupton and Belford, Clarke.
